Thank to everyone who participated in this 2012 campaign - in February 2013
Lana Popham, MLA for Saanich South and BC NDP Agriculture Critic, presented a petition in the British Columbia Legislature with over 5000 signatures representing over 19 BC communities, asking the House to take urgent action to halt commercial introduction of the genetically modified (GM) apple.

Take Action - Love the Apple!

Stop the Genetically Modified (GM) Apple - 2012 BC Petition

The small BC company called Okanagan Specialty Fruits is asking Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to approve a genetically modified (GM) “non-browning” apple. The U.S. government could approve the GM apple soon. Contamination from GM apples threatens the future of our apples, and the farmers who grow them.

Download and print copies of the petition here - act now and you can circulate this petition at local events, farmers' markets and even in your own neighborhood!

  • Please remember that people need to sign the side with the text - signatures on the back cannot be legally considered and will be lost.
  • You can mark an X across the back of the petition to make sure people do not mistakenly sign the blank page.
  • Please return the signatures to the address on the bottom of the petition. We need the original copies please.
  • Contact details of signatories will not be retained or used for any purpose other than sending the petition.
